Science Department
Ignite a love for learning and curiosity about science with our engaging curriculum at Heron Hall Academy. We build on existing knowledge, fostering a deep understanding of scientific processes through hands-on investigations and practical skill development. From mastering safe and accurate use of scientific equipment to exploring the functions of the human body, our students gain analytical skills to scrutinise data and make informed decisions. With opportunities to engage in STEM clubs, national events and industry collaborations, we prepare students for STEM careers and equip them with transferable skills to thrive as life-long learners and productive members of society.
The Ideal Candidate
As 2iC you will take a pivotal role in shaping the Science curriculum and inspiring the next generation of scientists. Working closely with the Head of Department, you will lead on the development and delivery of an engaging, innovative curriculum that captivates and motivates students. You will set high standards of teaching and learning, foster a culture of academic excellence and provide support and leadership to your colleagues within the department. From planning impactful lessons to monitoring student progress and implementing targeted interventions, your work will empower students to achieve their full potential.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and inspirational educator with a passion for Science and the drive to make a real difference in students’ lives. You’ll have a proven ability to deliver exceptional Science lessons that engage and inspire. Strong leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered.
