As a Plant Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, ensuring optimal functionality, safety, and operational efficiency.
What you’ll do:
* Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a wide range of heavy equipment, including powered access machinery.
* Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using specialised tools and diagnostic equipment.
* Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
* Collaborate with the maintenance team to identify and prioritise equipment repair needs.
* Effectively manage time and resources to meet maintenance schedules and minimize equipment downtime.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage.
* Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, troubleshooting issues, and implementing timely solutions.
* Communicate with supervisors and operators to understand equipment performance issues and gather relevant information for repairs.
* Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during maintenance and repair work.
* Keep up to date with the latest developments in equipment technology and maintenance techniques.
What you'll need:
* Previous experience working as a plant mechanic in the repair of plant and equipment or similar.
* Good all-round mechanical skills.
* Experience working on diesel engines.
* Leaving Cert or equivalent.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and produce safe, high-quality work.
* Highly organised with the ability to communicate effectively.
* IT proficient to record jobs electronically.
* Valid driver’s licence.
