There is a vacancy for a full-time (10PA) consultant post to work in Cedar Ward, a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) based at West Park Hospital in Darlington. This is a replacement post and an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team working in a dynamic and highly specialised environment.
Cedar Ward is one of two PICUs within the trust, taking referrals for patients based in the geographical areas of Durham, Darlington, Easington, Northallerton, and Harrogate. The unit provides psychiatric intensive inpatient care to acutely unwell and disturbed clients, aged 16-65 years, and includes a seclusion room. Clients generally have to be detained under the Mental Health Act prior to admission.
Main duties of the job
Cedar Ward provides a multi-disciplinary service for people whose psychiatric or psychological condition requires treatment in a controlled environment with a higher ratio of staff to patients. The unit emphasises multidisciplinary team working, recognising that the complex clients it serves require efficient, effective, collaborative approaches to assessment, formulation, and treatment planning. The unit is committed to Force Reduction drivers, both local and national, and to enhancing the client experience of care.
