Our client, an established global engineering company, is looking to recruit a motivated, proactive, and hands-on Welding & Fabrication Engineer to complete the assembly and testing of new products, inspection and refurbishment of existing products, and maintenance of company equipment.
Once full training has been completed to a satisfactory standard, there will be opportunities to go offshore up to 5 to 8 weeks a year with a daily rate of £325.
Reporting directly to the Production Director, duties include:
1. Carry out the assembly and, where applicable, test a wide range of equipment in accordance with Engineering Drawings and product specifications.
2. Use various welding equipment, materials, and techniques, ensuring company quality control standards.
3. Follow safety protocols and use PPE.
4. Develop and optimise welding processes for various materials, including sheet metal.
5. Conduct tests to evaluate the strength and quality of welds.
6. Maintain accurate documentation of welding procedures and specifications.
7. Operate power and hand tools (grinders, drills, belt sanders, etc.).
8. Conduct quality inspections on products and parts and troubleshoot products where needed.
9. Assemble a range of mechanical connectors and lifting tools.
10. Operate HPUs, including stripping down and reassembling hydraulic cylinders.
11. Maintain workshop equipment.
12. Clean and maintain work areas.
13. Uphold the company HSSEQ Procedures.
As an ideal applicant, you will have experience within an industrial engineering environment with the ability to carry out engineering tasks to a high standard. Experience as a welding engineer and working with hand and power tools is essential. You will also possess a meticulous work ethic, excellent communication and analytical qualities, and a positive, “can do” attitude. A current forklift licence and Gantry crane certificates would be an advantage.
