Purpose Of Post : 1. To develop & sustain the Quality Management System (QMS) across the Company through existing and new procedures, and to regulate, control and improve the quality of manufacturing designs, processes and the final product. 2. To evaluate & improve vendor quality performance through rigorous RCCA activities & process stability. 3. Embed a culture of quality throughout the company. Key Tasks : 1. To implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS). 2. To communicate with personnel at all levels, internally and externally to the Company, in relation to quality matters. 3. To ensure that all in-house systems and procedures are updated, revised and modified to meet the needs of external certification bodies. 4. Respond to Customer complaints, putting in place containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures. 5. Act as point of contact for field service and warranty issue. 6. Implement solutions to solve field service and warranty issues. 7. Update quality documentation to carry forward lessons learnt from quality concerns into new customer contracts. 8. To ensure that all necessary systems and procedures are in place to satisfy all customer requirements and audits. 9. Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate. 10. Train others in all aspects of the quality system and application of procedures. 11. Undertake internal and process audits of the QMS. 12. Supervision of Quality Inspectors/Auditors in the sign-off chassis units/buses and the resolution of internal/external quality concerns. 13. To establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards and documentation. 14. Ensure that all rectification and snagging work is carried out and meets the agreed standards. 15. Report against agreed quality metrics on a monthly basis. 16. In conjunction with the SQA function to reduce the effect of non-conforming supplier materials on production line quality. 17. Undertake any other duties conducive with the effective operation of the post. Specification Education Attainments Job Experience Specialist Knowledge / Skills Disposition Essential Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent or An apprenticeship qualification Extensive experience gained working in a quality department within a manufacturing industry. Ability to analyse facts and other data. Capable of understanding quality procedures and their application. Capable of leading/supervising a team of quality personnel, PC skills on Word/Excel/Outlook. Calm under pressure, especially when quality needs conflict with production needs, and gets the job done.Capable of leading/supervising a number of Quality Control Inspectors.Determination to get the job done. Good attendance, disciplinary and timekeeping record. Desirable An honours degree in an engineering related discipline (2.2 or above) Direct experience of working in an ISO 9001 environment and assisting in implementing all the relevant procedures.
