Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, creative and inspiring individual to come and join our team on Rowan 2 Ward at Highbury Hospital as an Activity Coordinator.
Rowan 2 Ward is a 16 bedded female mental health ward for ages 18-65 based at Highbury Hospital in Nottingham.
As a valued member of our team, your role will be to plan the daily activities on the ward with the nursing team and encourage patients to take part individually and also as part of a group. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the occupational therapy team in providing activities on and off the ward.
Your feedback relating to patients' participation will need to be communicated verbally to the MDT team and in writing within patients' electronic notes.
There are also training opportunities which will help to increase your knowledge and skills and enable you to deliver a high quality service for our patients.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To provide social/therapeutic activities for both individuals and groups of patients.
2. To identify patients' current and past social interests in consultation with patients and carers.
3. In conjunction with the Nursing Team and Occupational Therapists, develop individual programmes of care and ensure that these needs are met.
4. To organise and participate in patient outings and social events from the ward.
5. To develop own group work skills so that appropriate opportunities are provided to patients on and off the ward.
6. To participate in alternative therapies for patients e.g. massage, multi-sensory work, aromatherapy once appropriate training has been received and in line with Trust policy.
7. To liaise with outside agencies as appropriate in the provision of activities and entertainment of patients.
8. To liaise with families to build individualised care for the patients.
9. Confidently document and communicate activities and findings.
