Job summary The post is situated within the Forensic Division and located in a High Secure Hospital setting. The post holder will work within the Hair Salons and on the wards, providing a Hairdressing and Beauty service for the individual patients within the hospital working as part of a small team. The role entails the individual to work independently, use their own initiative and to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of high risk patients in high secure care. Main duties of the job Trained to NVQ Level III in hairdressing/barbering or equivalent or equivalent experience, GCSE/GCE or equivalent in English. Ability to plan and prioritise own workload and the work of others, manage own time effectively under supervision. To work under the direction and leadership of registered professional undertaking duties as requested and delegated. Good general educational background, effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills Experience of liaising with other departments and services and professional colleagues Ability to set and maintain appropriate professional boundaries Significant experience and positive attitude of working with high risk mentally disordered offenders. To have a basic understanding of the different types of mental illness and maintain an understanding and caring approach. Significant experience of developing and delivering pre-engagement therapeutic programmes Skilled at interpersonal relationships with service users Adaptability, flexibility good time management skills Self-Motivated Recording of statistical information e.g. Attendance records Basic IT skills to include word and email.
