Sustainable Buildings and Energy Team Leader
Role Responsibility
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Sustainable Buildings and Energy Team as Team Leader in delivering a range of renewable energy and low-carbon projects across Kent, supporting Kent County Council to achieve the corporate 2030 Net Zero target and the county-wide 2050 target.
As the leader of the Sustainable Buildings and Energy Team, you will oversee the development, support, monitoring, and review of activities related to building decarbonisation, renewable energy, and sustainable infrastructure projects. Your role will be crucial in ensuring a coordinated and effective approach to achieving operational Net Zero by 2030 and long-term sustainability goals.
You will provide specialist advice, support, and expertise to internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring project implementation is targeted, coordinated, and delivers best value for money in line with budgets and timescales. Additionally, you will support the creation of external funding bids to enable necessary action to delivering emissions reductions to meet both corporate and county-wide sustainability and climate change targets.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage a range of building decarbonisation, renewable energy, and low-carbon projects across the Council’s estate and within a partnership context at all stages of the project cycle.
2. Oversee the Sustainable Buildings and Energy Team, ensuring proactive and collaborative service delivery.
3. Contribute to the development of a domestic retrofit plan and associated project delivery for the County.
4. Maintain regular and effective communication with stakeholders, providing recommendations and reports on projects.
This full-time role offers hybrid working options, with a mixture of office-based work at Invicta House, Maidstone, and remote work from home.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
We are planning to conduct the interviews on the 20th - 21st January 2025. As part of the interview process for this role, you may also be required to complete additional testing.
