About the role
Lloyd & Whyte, who are proudly part of Benefact Group, are looking for a strategic Director to join our General Insurance Division. This area of the Group is split across multiple sites, with their predominant offices located in Taunton, Biderford, Bromsgrove and Stevenage.
Please note that whilst there will be presence required in all offices, the role itself will be largely Taunton based, given the scale of teams based in this location. Therefore candidates applying should ideally be located within the Somerset/Devon area.
The successful person will be an inspirational and dependable leader with expert knowledge of the UK Insurance Industry. Whilst overseeing the division as a whole, they will ultimately be responsible for the overall strategy, direction, culture, growth and profit of the business, working with the leadership team, Board and key Group colleagues.

Key responsibilities
* Develop and deliver the Business Strategy, working with the Board and leading the GI Operating Board
* Ensure an exceptional client experience maintaining a culture of focus on Consumer Duty and putting the client first, with consistent delivery of the right client outcomes in compliance with regulations
* Overall responsibility for the business Culture, Growth and Profit
* Maintain and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes through partnership
* Manage, motivate and lead direct reports
* Develop and deliver the strategic 3 year plans on market penetration and business performance
* FCA Senior Manager (or equivalent) responsibility
* Work with Head of Compliance to ensure the business is trading in line with Group Compliance standards and within FCA and other regulatory rules
Knowledge, skills and experience
* Must hold Chartered Insurance Institute – Advance Diploma in Insurance
* Strategic, innovative and analytical with exceptional ability for business planning
* Confident and effective in communicating, networking, presenting and developing relationships
* Talented and assured in mentoring, coaching and people management
* Focused on ensuring delivery of an exceptional client experience
* Driven, tenacious and pro-active to develop new opportunities
* A role model of collaborative working and stakeholder management
* Flexible, pragmatic, adaptable and approachable
* Highly motivated and committed to achieve and deliver
* Knowledgeable of Financial Conduct Authority, Health & Safety at Work, GDPR, Money Laundering, Employment Law and any relevant regulatory and legislative requirements which affect the business
