Job Title: Weekend and on-call Driver – 1-year fixed term contract
Salary: £13.20 an hour (plus additional £15.00 a shift when on-call)

We are currently looking for a driver to join our Short Breaks team at Surrey Choices to provide a transport service for staff from Banstead to our new, purpose-built site in Woking from April 2025. We are currently working in partnership with Surrey County Council to deliver on their vision for quality Short Breaks for people with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs, through the development of two state-of-the-art, purpose-built overnight services.
The role would suit applicants with previous experience within passenger services or an interest in driving. It will require you to cover driving responsibilities over the weekend and provide some on-call cover for mid-week shifts if required.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Provision of a transport service to the staff from Banstead to Woking.
2. Driving a company vehicle, ensuring all staff are transported safely and in line with all policies and procedures.
3. Ensuring passenger safety, including helping passengers on and off the vehicle when required.
4. Performing regular vehicle checks in line with procedures and reporting any concerns or issues to the Community Transport Manager.
5. Reporting any safeguarding concerns or issues to the Community Transport Manager.
6. Ensuring the vehicle is kept clean and tidy.
What we would like from you:
* Full UK driving licence (maximum 3 penalty points) held for a minimum of two years for insurance purposes.
* 21+ for insurance purposes.
* Willingness to be trained to drive a minibus.
* Willing to be fully trained in wheelchair safety and restraint when on vehicles.
* Clear verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain written records including recording passenger complaints.
* Willingness to be flexible in terms of starting times, finishing times, and locations (within an area).
