What will I be doing?
As Service Engineer, you will be carrying out complex repairs and inspections to aircraft landing gear at our customers' facilities. Responsibilities include disassembly and inspection of landing gear, application of remedial action to enable final assembly, testing, and certification, working in accordance with OEM instructions. You will communicate directly with customers, managing their expectations to provide excellent support. Onsite support as required, working as part of a workshop team carrying out the recertification of landing gears including disassembly, inspection, local repairs, bushing, assembly, and test. This is a customer-facing role acting with professionalism at all times as a company representative.
Complementary Description
1. Responsible for carrying out repairs to aircraft landing gear & associated equipment, traveling to customer locations around the world.
2. Holding a company signatory stamp with the responsibility to release landing gears and components back into service under the appropriate airworthiness authority.
3. Flexibility to support AOG and urgent customer requests whilst on site and out of hours, including weekends and public holidays.
4. Company ambassador for Safran whilst on customer premises ensuring effective communication and professionalism at all times.
5. Assist in the repair, test, and overhaul of landing gears while on site at Gloucester MRO.
6. Ability to disassemble, assemble, and test complex landing gear assemblies.
7. Provision, control, and maintain specialized tooling for out of base requirements.
8. Involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce shop processing times and manufacturing hours.
9. Ability to read and interpret component maintenance manuals, drawings, engineering layouts, and additions to the original design such as Service Bulletins, Service Letters, and Airworthiness Directives.
10. Ability to compile risk assessments prior to and during off-site events to ensure a safe working environment.
11. Use of a Forklift, MEWP, and working at height.
12. Required to work day shift when on site (subject to change in line with company requirements) plus unsociable hours including weekends and bank holidays when working on wing.
Job Requirements
1. Engineering Apprenticeship, plus 5 years' experience in an aviation environment or equivalent.
2. Previous experience of landing gear maintenance.
3. Ability to interpret Component Maintenance Manuals, Technical Drawings & instructions.
4. High level of dexterity with attention to detail.
5. Ability to use a variety of hand tools including precision measuring equipment.
6. Understanding of electrical circuits.
7. Able to travel at short notice to worldwide destinations, with no restrictions.
8. Human Factors, risk management, working at height experience.
9. UK driving license.
10. Have or willing to gain forklift truck & MEWP licenses, experience and confidence to work at heights.
11. Excellent problem solver with root cause analysis skills.
12. Efficient computer skills.
13. Articulate with excellent communication skills at all levels.
14. Ability to make decisions under pressure.
15. Good mathematical skills.
16. Excellent team working ethics.
