A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join one of the country’s leading Fire and Rescue Services, maintaining our fire appliances and ensuring our dedicated firefighters arrive safely at incidents to save lives.
Based at our Technical Hub in Hartlepool, you will have the opportunity to work across the Cleveland area to carry out the inspection, repair and maintenance of the Brigade's fleet of vehicles and associated operational equipment.
Responsibilities:
1. Inspection, repair, and maintenance of the Brigade's fleet of vehicles and operational equipment.
2. Participate in the standby rota system, which is one week in five.
3. Carry out pre-planned maintenance on frontline fire engines.
4. Support operational crews on the fire ground.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Considerable experience in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles, mainly HGVs.
2. Possess a recognised apprenticeship in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance with City and Guilds Parts 1, 2 and 3 Motor craft studies (or Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent level relevant qualification).
3. A current full driving licence is essential.
4. A category C driving license would be desirable, with support to work towards this licence.
You will work in a modern clean workshop environment and have access to the latest equipment to maintain our fleet. We invest in our staff and provide both in-house and external training including:
1. Training to drive emergency vehicles
2. Aerial appliance operation training
3. Scania manufacturer training
4. HGV vehicle inspection techniques training
