We are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic midwives to join our highly motivated Midwifery team at The Countess of Chester. The post holder will have completed their preceptorship and will be expected to rotate around Community with an opportunity to rotate into Labour ward, Triage, Inpatient Ward, and Antenatal Clinic. There is an on-call rota as part of this role. We welcome interest from midwives keen to work or gain experience in the community. We are also developing an opportunity to work within a continuity model for those wishing to provide an enhanced model of care.

With 1800 births per year, our Maternity Service includes:
* An alongside midwifery unit
* An 8-bed consultant-led obstetric unit
* A Community midwifery service
* A Fetal Medicine Service including preterm clinics
* A 27-bed antenatal and postnatal ward with 4 transitional care beds
* A close relationship with our local Maternity Voice Partnership
We look forward to moving into our new maternity unit, planned to open in July 2025.
Main duties of the job
1. Work autonomously within guidelines and Sphere of Professional Practice within a designated area, responsible for comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care according to the health and social needs of women and their babies.
2. Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to meet women and families' needs, especially regarding ongoing health/social requirements and discharge arrangements.
3. Ensure care provided is safe, kind, and effective.
4. Establish and maintain effective communication with women and their families.
5. Collect, collate, and report information, maintaining accurate records.
6. Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
7. Involve women and their families in the planning and delivery of care.

* The Countess of Chester Hospital: 438 beds
* Ellesmere Port Hospital: 56 beds for rehabilitation, intermediate, and outpatient care
* Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: community services for the rural population
