NEON Membership and Finance Officer (0.5 FTE)

The Department
NEON is a national charitable incorporated organisation which drives forward opportunity and social mobility in higher education by championing access and success in higher education from those from lower income backgrounds, black and minority ethnic groups, disabled students, older learners and other groups under-represented in higher education. It is a member-based organisation with over 150 organisations as members including over 100 universities. NEON provides professional development for staff in the higher education sector; creates the space to share and improve practice and works directly with politicians and policymakers to advocate for the students we serve.
The Role
This is a part time position.
* Dealing with enquiries from members whilst maintaining excellent customer service.
* Keeping accurate financial records.
* Monitoring income and expenditure related to the NEON programme and NEON membership subscriptions.
* Ensuring membership renewals and other invoices are processed in a timely fashion and agreeing any actions to be taken regarding outstanding payments. Liaising with NEON members to resolve any outstanding payment issues.
* Processing any payments that are to be made to external providers in line with NEON’s finance policy.
* Reconciling NEON’s financial records with NEON’s own bank account.
* Keeping NEON’s online event calendar up to date and creating booking forms to allow members to reserve places.
* Supporting the Director to produce quarterly financial reports for NEON’s Board of Trustees.
* Undertaking other reasonable duties deemed necessary.
* Plan own day-to-day activity within the context of work of NEON, exhibiting an appropriate degree of flexibility and accountability.
The Person
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual as our Membership and Finance Officer. Reporting to the Deputy Director this role will take responsibility for dealing with enquiries from existing and potential NEON members. Candidates should have experience of providing high quality customer service, as well as being highly organised and being able to work remotely, to agreed targets, with minimal supervision. Candidates should also have a high level of both numeracy and of working with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Interviews are expected to be held in the week commencing 3rd February 2025.
