My client is looking for a Lead Chassis Engineer to support the design and development of a number of significant components and systems related to chassis systems and components. You will have responsibility for supporting/reviewing and approving concept and production-level design, both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
1. Leading the design and development of quality components and systems for new class-leading motorcycles
2. Successfully communicating and working with key internal departments and external service providers and suppliers to ensure quality design and feasibility
3. Following and policing company, departmental and quality policies
4. Ensuring application of relevant industry standards and benchmark learning
5. Develop commodity delivery plans, and drive delivery to plan
6. Approving concept and detail CAD designs and drawings
7. Attending and inputting into engineering reviews and discussions
8. Making technical decisions as required
9. Promoting and actively gaining knowledge in new fields of engineering and technology
10. Sharing and communication of technical knowledge including creating and maintaining engineering design guidelines
11. Occasional travel may be required to support supplier development and product testing
Experience Required:
1. Understand engineering fundamentals in the design and development of components and assemblies
2. Risk identification and mitigation
3. Mechanical Engineering Degree with a grade of 2:1 or above
4. Practical hands-on engineering and mechanical experience
5. Pro-E or CREO experience is preferred but not essential
6. An understanding of motorcycle chassis design and its interaction with powertrain and electronics
7. A minimum of 6 years automotive design engineering background (Ideally motorcycle)
8. Experience of managing and mentoring design engineers
