We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Assistant Engineer to join our Traffic Engineering team in London. With an established track record of delivering a wide variety of projects on local, national and international scale, we work with public and private sector clients throughout the project life cycle, providing services from feasibility design through to detailed design and construction. We also support other GHD business lines where their projects have a transport interface. We seek enthusiastic, goal oriented and motivated individuals who have 2 years of experience and are confident in working effectively in a high-energy, fast-moving environment. Successful candidates will have a good technical background in traffic engineer design and modelling, together with excellent written and oral communication skills which we would continue to develop. We are seeking a candidate with a willingness to learn and improve the technical and softer skills required form a good consultant. Requirements for the Role: Bachelor’s degree: Engineering is preferred, but other relevant subjects will be considered. Have achieved or working towards a relevant professional accreditation e.g. CEng. Producing high quality designs and drawings covering optioneering, feasibility and concept design stages. Detailed design experience is a plus. Excellent practical and technical knowledge in junction improvements, bus priority, cycle design and safety schemes. Good knowledge of national and local highways and traffic technical standards, legislation, regulations and procedures including Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Local Traffic Notes (LTNs), Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD). Keeping up to date with the latest relevant design methods and standards. Developing local area traffic models using packages such as LINSIG and Junctions 10. Preparing and/or interpreting technical reports under little supervision. Interpreting outputs from local area traffic models to influence scheme design. Ensuring tasks are carried out within agreed timescales and budgets. Basic understanding of CDM 2015, its relevant duties and typical documentation. Basic Understanding of the Road Safety Audit process. Supervised practitioner in Autodesk Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) and associated packages including KeyLines, KeySigns and Vehicle Tracking. Excellent IT skills and use of Microsoft Office software packages. Understanding of Transport for London’s Model Audit Process (MAP). Providing professional advice to internal and external clients as required. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
