An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to join Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care’s management team as Communications Manager, to help shape the future of the charity as we deliver on our new communications strategy to make a real difference to our patients, our staff, volunteers, and our partners.
As a key member of the Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care team, the post holder will implement a marketing and communications programme to raise the profile and income streams of the Charity whilst promoting a strong positive corporate image and identity. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the Charity's website and social media platforms as well as developing written and video material to progress the Charity's aims and purpose.
About us:
Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care specialises in the provision of transport for patients in the North-East of England who are receiving cancer treatments. The charity was set up in the late 1980s initially based in Newcastle City Centre as a wider ranging charity before focusing on cancer patient transport, becoming Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care and moving to its current location at Daft as a Brush House in Gosforth in 2010. The success of the charity is dependent upon the team of volunteers who deliver the service to patients. The charity currently has a volunteer group of approximately 350, predominantly ambulance drivers and companions but also including those carrying out administration and reception duties.
The Charity works in the healthcare environment, specifically supporting the National Health Service, currently in partnership with The Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust providing a patient transport service to their chemotherapy and radiotherapy sites. Since the service commenced it has been delivered by custom-made ambulances on a bespoke one-to-one basis transporting patients from across all of the North-East to and from their outpatient and treatment appointments.
