Senior Controls and Commissioning Engineer

Position Overview:
I am seeking a talented Senior Controls and Commissioning Engineer to lead efforts in commissioning and optimizing battery and powertrain systems. In this role, you will take ownership of commissioning activities, ensuring that systems meet rigorous functional and safety requirements. You will collaborate closely with software and controls engineers to develop and document commissioning processes, streamline procedures, and implement automated tests. Additionally, you will be responsible for defining testing procedures, supporting fault detection and recovery strategies, and working with cross-functional teams to deliver software and hardware features on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead commissioning activities for battery and powertrain systems, ensuring compliance with functional and safety standards.
2. Develop and document commissioning processes to initialize prototype systems for performance and durability testing.
3. Optimize commissioning processes through the implementation of software scripts and automated tests.
4. Collaborate with software and controls engineers to ensure system readiness for testing and calibration activities.
5. Design user-friendly front-end interfaces for test and validation engineers to monitor critical signals and data.
6. Apply expertise in hardware and software systems to support the development of fault detection and recovery strategies.
7. Define testing procedures for electrical and software functions, gathering input from team members as needed.
8. Work with cross-functional teams to plan and deliver software and hardware features on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
2. 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, commissioning, or related roles within the automotive industry.
3. Proficiency in commissioning processes, including familiarity with battery and powertrain systems.
4. Strong programming skills, with experience in software scripting and automated testing.
5. Knowledge of hardware and software systems, with the ability to develop fault detection and recovery strategies.
6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
7. Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
