The freehold owner of the airport is the Luton Borough Council (“LBC”) and the current concession to operate and develop the airport is held by London Luton Airport Operations Limited (LLAOL), a private sector entity that is joint owned by AENA, the world’s largest airport operator, and Infrabridge, a specialist global infrastructure investment manager.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced insurance manager to proactively manage insurances across the business, including:
1. Ensuring the business has comprehensive insurance cover in place.
2. Taking the lead role for LLA on insurance renewal process, working with Aena’s insurance team.
3. Providing insurance advice to the business.
4. Liaising with insurers and brokers on queries.
5. Managing claims (both insured and uninsured), including their investigation.
6. Supporting risk review and management in LLA as required.
7. Assisting the LLA Legal team as required, including in relation to insurance related contractual obligations.
8. Developing and ensuring compliance with LLA insurance related policies; and procedures, including in relation to insurance cover of third parties operating at LLA.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Key point of contact internally and externally on all insurance related matters for the business.
2. Take the lead role for LLA in the insurance renewals process, including liaising with insurance brokers and Aena insurance team.
3. Identifying new insurance requirements, including in relation to construction projects, and taking the lead role for LLA to put those in place.
4. Develop, update and ensure compliance with, business policies and processes in connection with insurance and risk to minimise risk to the business (acting as a gatekeeper in respect of insurance requirements).
5. Provide advice on the relevant insurance levels and requirements for the business.
6. Minimise risk of financial loss to the business.
7. Manage the claims process, including investigating claims (for example, the review of CCTV footage and retaining relevant footage for claims).
8. Review claims information and identify learnings and other actions to minimise risk to the business.
9. Support the preparation of customer complaints correspondence.
10. Determine when payments are to be made to complainants.
11. Liaise with external stakeholders including shareholders, insurance brokers and lawyers in connection with insurance claims.
12. Liaise with internal business areas to obtain relevant facts in respect of insurance claims.
13. Responsibility for management of insurance related risks, including identifying risk associated with events/incidents/proposals and explaining the risk to the business.
14. Ensure insurance policy requirements are understood and adhered to by the business.
15. Prepare claims management and insurance reports for management and the board where required.
16. Ensure all insurances are in place and up to date.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
A successful candidate for this role will have:
1. A good knowledge of data protection law and GDPR.
2. A skilled communicator, capable of interacting with the business at all levels, with the necessary credibility and professionalism to influence senior stakeholders.
3. Ability to build strong relationships to become a trusted adviser to stakeholders. A positive, can-do and ambitious approach and a commitment to driving continuous improvement.
4. Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
5. Excellent written & verbal communication and time management skills.
6. Ability to see wider, strategic issues and to meet deadlines.
7. Proficient in Word and Excel.
Preferred but not essential:
1. Aviation industry experience
2. Risk management and/or compliance experience and/or qualification
