Job summary We have the opportunity to recruit a substantive Band 7 registered nurse to lead and manage the discharge lounge at St. Jamess University Hospital. The post is aligned to the Corporate Operations CSU and will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to be involved in supporting capacity and flow through emergency and planned care pathways by releasing inpatient bed capacity at the earliest opportunity. Your support will be pivotal to the ongoing development and success of the discharge lounge, using continual improvement methods. Main duties of the job The main duties of the role include providing the daily discharge lounge service, working alongside wards and departments to identify patient who are suitable to move to the discharge lounge and ensuring the patients stay is safe and satisfactory. Communication with a wide number of groups/individuals both internally and externally is required. The team comprises of both registered and non-registered staff, who should be developed to provide high quality patient care. The individual will need to provide professional, pastoral and clinical management and leadership. They will need to provide assurance that patient care and the environment is maintained to a high standard. This will require them to have skills and experience in providing direct patient care and being able to respond to a patient who may deteriorate unexpectedly. They will also manage the finances for the department. Finally, are looking for an individual who will be a role model to staff and represent the Trusts ethos and standards at all times.
