Applications are invited for a replacement post of Consultant Medical Microbiologist to join the existing three Consultant Microbiologists working in Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, due to retirement of a previous post holder. It is anticipated the start date would be March 2025.
The post is advertised as 6PAs. There is an expectation to participate in on call (included within the PA allocation) but this can be discussed on an individual basis.
Currently there are 29 PAs for microbiology/infection control divided between the 4 current microbiologists.
You would join an enthusiastic team providing a full Clinical Microbiology and Infection Control Service. The DIPC is the Director of Nursing.
It is anticipated that the successful post holder will either be responsible for Antimicrobial Stewardship and liaise closely with the Antimicrobial Pharmacy team.
Currently on call for the evenings is on a 1:3 Rota (Monday-Thursday) and on call for weekends is shared with Dorset County Hospital on a 1:6 Rota. Currently, Bank Holiday weekends spanning a Friday and/or a Monday are covered locally and not cross-covered with Dorchester; therefore, weekend frequency is about 1:5 overall.
You should possess MRCPath or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register of the GMC (or within six months of obtaining CCT).
