Play a key role in keeping our buildings safe and clean.
Join our dedicated and well-established building cleaning team to provide a rapid response to cleaning requests across the city. We are a friendly and welcoming team who fully understand the levels of cleaning required and work closely together to ensure our standards of cleanliness are met and maintained.
If you can work in adverse weather conditions and are not afraid to clean up unpleasant substances, then look no further. Full training will be given, and you will be provided with a council vehicle for this role. Due to the nature of the work, a driving licence is essential as you’ll be required to work in a specific geographical area.
This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. Flexibility is essential to attend ad hoc jobs which may be out of normal working hours and on occasion you may be required to work on weekends. Working hours will be adjusted and you’ll be given time off in lieu.
What you’ll be doing
Working alone or in a team of two, you’ll undertake cleaning duties which include general and deep cleaning of offices, housing estates, libraries, neighbourhood centres, sheltered housing, business units, and arcades within the city centre. Duties include carpet cleaning, end of tenancy cleans, graffiti removal, and cleaning of unpleasant substances and sharps. You’ll carry out litter picking and gritting in adverse weather conditions. Maintaining site and building security, you’ll unlock and lock buildings, as well as monitor the condition of buildings, reporting problems and arranging repairs. You’ll attend a weekly meeting with your charge hand or Area Cleaning Manager.
What you’ll need
You’ll have some cleaning experience although full training will be provided. With the ability to understand instructions, you’ll be able to work on your own to ensure health and safety is at the forefront whilst completing tasks. Dedicated, you’ll have a good work ethic, enjoy your work, and be passionate about providing good customer care. Flexible, with a willingness to work in all weather conditions and environments, you’ll be committed to ensuring all works are completed to a high standard.
Appointment will be subject to a full driving licence.
