Job Description
Purpose:
This is a project role. The project is for the construction of a, first of its kind, large diameter, high-pressure, cross-country pipeline in the northwest of England.
Reporting to the Project Director, the SHEQ Leader will be responsible for the strategy, planning, execution and control of the safety, health, environment and quality aspects of a major infrastructure project.
The role will require the appointee to provide leadership to all personnel on the project and, working closely with the wider project management team, manage the systems and staff within the project SHEQ team.
The appointee shall provide specialist coaching, advice and guidance that will drive, motivate, inspire, and encourage all members of project team, to deliver legislative compliance and promote continuous improvement. The aim shall be to create, achieve and sustain world class Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality performance, resulting in net zero and improved sustainability.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Leadership of the SHEQ team, including direct reporting staff that manage each of the disciplines.
* Oversee the preparation of system selection and execution plans for the delivery of SHEQ disciplines.
* Provide appropriate SHEQ oversight of the project execution during engineering and construction phases.
* Act as a single point of contact for client and project leadership team providing expertise on SHEQ matters and ensure the effectiveness of the Construction Phase Plan during project execution.
* Manage the preparation of, and in certain circumstances undertake, accident / incident investigations, to establish root causes and communicate learning points to prevent re-occurrence.
* Challenge existing working methods to incorporate Health, Safety and Environmental good practice during both the design & construction phases without compromising business priorities.
* Contribute to a safe & secure culture through behaviour-based coaching at all levels within the project.
* Liaise with the wider construction industry to ensure that lessons are shared and implemented.
* Co-ordinate, develop & maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
* Have an in-depth knowledge & provide expert advice on the CDM regulation covering various roles such as Client, Principal Designer & Principal Contractor.
* Assist the project team representatives with the review of contractor’s competence and identification of training needs.
* Provide monthly H&S data & safety stats to ULIS SHEQ Director as needed.
* Develop internal relationships to resolve issues, develop internal learning and identify opportunities for collaboration.
* Collaborate with other SHEQ professionals within the business to share information, knowledge & best practice.
* Proactive engagement with Supply-chain regarding project learning as well as sharing best practice.
* Introduce local initiative / campaigns as well as supporting the wider ULIS / Group plans.
* Conduct trend analysis for the project to mitigate foreseeable risks at early stages.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 10 years experience in Construction, preferably with a background in cross country pipelines or other linear infrastructure.
* Professional qualification and membership of a recognised certified body in at least one SHEQ discipline.
* ISO accreditation knowledge is desirable.

* This job is a full-time role, 8am-5pm Monday to Friday from our Warrington Office.
