Health, Safety, & Environmental (SHE) Manager
Location: Chilton, South Durham, with occasional travel/support to sister site in Derby

We’re looking for a proactive and professional SHE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental excellence across our operations. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you’ll be a hands-on leader in ensuring legal compliance, reducing environmental impact, and promoting a positive health and safety culture at every level of the organisation.
What you’ll do to make a difference:
1. Champion a proactive approach to health, safety, and environmental practices across the site.
2. Ensure the business complies with all HSE legislation and maintain top safety standards.
3. Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents—then lead the charge on improvements.
4. Oversee safety training programs, audits, and risk assessments.
5. Drive our environmental initiatives, including carbon footprint reduction and waste management.
6. Work closely with all departments to promote a safety-first culture.
7. Support the team at our sister site in Derby as needed.
What we are looking for from you:
1. A charismatic personality with the ability to influence a variety of key stakeholders in the business.
2. A NEBOSH/IOSH certificate or Diploma.
3. Significant experience in a similar SHE Management or Officer role in a manufacturing environment (mandatory).
4. A strategic mindset with the ability to drive HSE programs & policies.
5. Strong communication skills + experience working with local authorities (HSE).
6. Experience with ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001, and a strong understanding of safety legislation.
7. Experience of leading internal audits & facilitating external audits.
8. Excellent problem-solving abilities.
9. Outstanding attention to detail and observant skills.
10. Experience of carrying out in-depth incident/accident investigations.
11. Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
12. Strong interpersonal skills.
13. Be self-motivating and able to work under minimum supervision when required.
14. Well organised, good time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
15. A background in sheet metal or fabrication would be advantageous.
