Associate Practitioner Point of Care testing

As a member of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) team, the post holder will contribute to day-to-day delivery of the POCT service with specific responsibilities for maintaining specialised POCT equipment, troubleshooting, reagent management, documentation, performance of internal quality control, administration of external quality assessment programmes, delivering and organising training, audits and supporting service users.
Main duties of the job
* To develop relationships and effective team working with device users and clinical leaders.
* To identify any poor practice in the care and use of devices, working with clinical staff to improve their practice.
* To liaise effectively with other senior scientific and technical staff as well as senior managers in the department and users of the service.
* To participate regularly in departmental staff meetings and team briefings.
* To support the POCT team in organising and publicising training sessions.
* To take part in performing audits and other quality-related activities as required.
* To assist the POCT Coordinator in maintaining the quality management system of POCT.
* To ensure confidentiality concerning all aspects of work involving patients or investigations on samples from patients.
* To participate in the administration of National External Quality Assessment Schemes.
* To assist in the day-to-day administration of POCT users.
* To participate in the evaluation, implementation, and delivery of new equipment and techniques.
* To ensure that documentation is kept up to date in line with current document control standards.
* Responsible for stock management for POCT.
* To assist in planning training under the direction of the POCT coordinators.
* To assist in the administration of External Quality Assurance schemes.
Person Specification
* 5 GCSEs
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* MS Office experience
* Laboratory experience
* POCT experience
