Our client is a fast growing autonomous business within one of the North West’s leading privately owned groups (turnover >£1bn). Currently turning over c£6m, the business operates in the fast growing renewable energy sector.
The business requires a hands-on Financial Controller / Head of Finance to work closely with the Managing Director to handle all aspects of the day-to-day accounting and financial management for the business.
The business is growing quickly, and the MD requires an individual who relishes the opportunity to support him in building a business of much greater scale and who will be a key player in the business’s journey. The role should naturally develop into a Finance Director role as the business scales up.
The Role
Initially, you will be a one-person finance function and will develop the function as the business grows. The parent group has a substantial finance function which can provide support if / when required.
Working closely with the Managing Director, the role’s responsibilities include the following:
1. Hands-on accounting including transaction recording, preparation of timely, accurate monthly management accounts, and insightful weekly and monthly KPIs.
2. Cashflow management.
3. Preparation of business plans, budgets, and forecasts.
4. Preparation of payroll (monthly).
5. Support the sales team with relevant financial information as required.
6. Prepare annual statutory accounts for the business.
7. Undertake ad hoc projects as required by the Managing Director.
The Candidate
This will be a broad, interesting role in a fast-paced business that will be attractive to someone keen to develop themselves, take on responsibility, and play a key role in building a business.
The successful candidate will be:
1. A capable and diligent accountant (qualified or qualified by experience) who is happy to be hands-on and keen to be a part of a close-knit team in a fast-growing business.
2. A confident individual with a “can do” attitude and excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
3. A person who enjoys taking responsibility and works to high personal standards of care.
