The role We are looking for a dynamic apprentice to join our accounts team in Birmingham. Reporting directly into our Head of Financial Reporting, the primary purpose of this role is to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of financial information across the group. This is an exciting entry level opportunity allowing the right candidate to join a supportive team to kickstart their career Alongside your role, you’ll complete either: Level 3 Assistant Accountant including AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting or a Level 4 Professional Accounting Apprenticeship Including either Certificate level qualification from ACCA, ‘CIMA’ or AAT at Diploma level. The apprenticeship will take between 18 and 21 months. In addition to investing in your learning, we give you time to study as well as the opportunity to put what you learn into practice. Please note this role is due to commence in August/ September 2025. Responsibilities: Assistance with month end reconciliations and processes across the group Support the team with the delivery of internal/external audit programmes Supporting input to the development and/or implementation of financial policies. Implementing control and process improvements as directed by Head of Financial Reporting Data integrity reviews, including nominal account transactions Ensuring accuracy, validity and quality of financial information Support FP&A/IT teams with rolling out new finance reports for fee earners Support with preparation of VAT and other tax returns Drafting journals, with supporting evidence Liaising with bookkeepers and other remote/local finance teams in subsidiaries Preparing ad hoc reports and analysis for the team The team Our highly skilled and diverse finance team is dedicated to delivering exceptional accounting services to our exciting and dynamic Professional Services Group. We offer a comprehensive range of services that cater to both legal and non-legal businesses within the Group. Our finance team is meticulously organised into several specialised functions, including Group Accounting, Legal Cashiering, Billing, Credit Management, and Purchasing. This role will sit within our Group Accounting function and will report directly into our Head of Financial Accounting. The purpose of the financial accounting and reporting team is the delivery of robust, pro-active financial information including monthly reporting into the centralised Group function, management of the external audit process and engagement with the Audit Partner and their team to ensure sign-off of interim, year end and statutory audits. Complete the statutory accounts in accordance with international accounting standards and timely filing and maintain the integrity of the balance sheet. The role is also the key contact for day-to-day interaction with the Group team. The team comprises of a mix of full and part qualified accountants completing a wide range of activities to ensure all elements of accounting and reporting are as accurate as possible. The person Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following attributes: A desire to build a career in Finance Full right to work and reside in the UK – Due to apprenticeship funding regulations, we cannot accept applications from those who require sponsorship to work in the UK. You must have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 consecutive years. A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 including Maths and English.
