Job Description
As a Pattern Shop Technician, you will be required to:
* Lead the pattern shop team in producing new and developing existing patterns, within planned time scales and to the required quality in a “hands on” manner.
* Ensure that those in the Pattern Shop work safely at all times and are adequately trained for the work. Concentrating on housekeeping, safe working instruction training and continual improvement.
* Ensure that safety and environmental requirements are met and that employees work to the Company procedures and legislation by fostering a safety first approach to undertaking work.
* Ensure quality standards are met in the pattern shop
* Allocation of work to individuals
* Ensures that risk assessments and method statements are in place where necessary in the pattern shop
* Ensure plant and equipment is maintained safely and fit for purpose, reporting and resolving defects
* Undertakes and briefs relevant risk assessments as appropriate, ensuring safe systems of work are in place.
* Under takes development and refurbishment of patterns from 2D drawings using wood and resins
* Communicate with other departments and expedite service, information and materials
* Provides training and instruction to team members in line with the relevant job specification and/or training plan
* Liaises with Foundry production personnel in order to progress patterns through the foundry processes as efficiently as possible
* Plans and organises section workload ensuring timescales are met including undertaking pattern making operations
* Ensures all administration is maintained to a high level.
* Works with the Production teams to ensure continuous improvement in work practices to reduce costs and improve productivity
* Capable of marking out and preparing inspection reports from castings.
Qualifications
The ideal Pattern Shop Technician:
* Knowledge of relevant Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality processes and legislation
* Time served (C&G etc.) or at least 5 years experience as a proficient operator in pattern making operations with a knowledge of foundry production processes e.g. methoding, moulding and split lines
* Able to prioritise and work under pressure to deadlines and targets
* Computer literate.
* Knowledge of Risk Assessment
* Good organisation skills
