Job summary
The Clinical Safety Lead will be at the forefront of transforming our services into a beacon of least restrictive, person-centred care. This dynamic leader will champion evidence-based practices while setting and elevating the professional standards for care and therapeutic engagement within our facilities.
In this pivotal role, the Safety Lead will provide expert clinical guidance, especially for cases involving highly complex needs and challenging behaviours, with a specific focus on those requiring enhanced therapeutic and safe support.
Main duties of the job
As an autonomous practitioner, the Clinical Safety Lead will offer advanced clinical expertise, delivering critical advice, coaching, and constructive feedback to empower clinical teams. They will support and lead on elements of the Trust's clinical safety and reducing restrictive practices programs, co-ordinating best practices. Their influence will extend to shaping and contributing to the RRP educational program and clinical practice guidelines, ensuring that our staff are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills. The role will be responsible for the RESPECT team and will help the team to deliver the training to staff in the organisation across disciplines and in doing so fully utilise their skills and experience to support the objectives of the Trust objectives by delivering coaching, training, support and advice to clinical teams.
The post holder is responsible for devising, synthesising, creating and updating regular restrictive practice data reports from a number of resource platforms and disseminating this information across the Trust and to external organisations including NHS Digital, CQC, Special Commissioners, Respect and BILD.
In addition to their clinical leadership, the Clinical Safety Lead will drive research initiatives that enhance clinical practices across the Trust. They will not only inspire a culture of continuous improvement but also play a vital role in shaping the future of patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING
Essential
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
* Advanced knowledge in area of clinical expertise
* Extensive knowledge of relevant legal frameworks such as the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and the Use of Force Act with respect to its relationship to restrictive practice
* Strong value base which drives practice
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Leadership and management skills
* Good communication, both written and verbal
* Knowledge of the role of partner organisations
* Thorough understanding of the policy/standards agenda in relation to area of clinical expertise, and an understanding of the broader policy drivers pertinent to healthcare delivery
* Knowledge of contemporary practice and best practice
* Ability to work in collaboration with colleagues
* Ability to work autonomously in taking critical decisions
* Ability to manage, supervise and support staff

Desirable
* Masters qualification in health related subject or equivalent experience
