Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neurological Rehabilitation service to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking neurology team for Rotherham and Doncaster.
The successful candidate will join our welcoming and friendly Multidisciplinary Team, which includes Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Nurses and Rehab Assistants. You will provide Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention in both the inpatient and community setting to patients with a wide range of Neurological conditions including MS, Brain injury, Spinal Cord Injury etc.
There is also the opportunity to work across the wider neurological services in the trust, to increase clinical experience, working knowledge and support colleagues. You will have plenty of scope to demonstrate and explore creative freedom within the role, as well as link with wider trust services Flourish and the Diamond Centre. Services patients can access for their rehabilitation comprise a wood workshop, splinting facilities etc.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, flexible, and forward-thinking Occupational Therapist who is able to autonomously manage a caseload of patients with a range of neurological illness and disability.
Whilst this post is advertised as a band 6, we are willing to consider recruiting at a band 5. Please refer to the relevant job description and person specification.
Main duties of the job
1. Carry out an array of assessments to identify problems and devise treatment plans.
2. Provide therapeutic intervention to a group of patients within the Neurorehabilitation setting.
3. Devise and delegate rehabilitation programmes to Rehabilitation Assistants dependent on level of competence.
4. Work in partnership with the Occupational therapy Lead to monitor service performance and develop the service to meet the challenging needs of the pathway.
5. Attend meetings with the team and families to feedback progress, rehabilitation programmes and discuss discharge plans.Provide supervision and developmental guidance to students and Band 5.
6. Occupational therapists and colleagues working within the multidisciplinary team in relation to own areas of expertise and special interests
