Job Description
Our successful GRANTHAM branch is looking for an energetic, innovative and dynamic Transport / Yard Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the transport and yard departments. Previous Class 1 experience would be required for this role.
2. Efficiently managing a team of drivers and vehicles.
3. Responsibility for all the dispatching, routing, and tracking of delivery vehicles.
4. Ensuring company compliance with all transport policies, legislations, and procedures related to tachographs.
5. Managing, monitoring, and developing a team of drivers and yard staff.
6. Involvement in strategic development and improvements.
7. Ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and serviced.
8. Maintain accurate administrative records.
9. Appraising staff performance and addressing all disciplinary issues that may arise.
10. Responsibility for all health and safety issues of the fleet.
11. Liaising with yard operatives to ensure correct products, quantities, locations, and timings.
12. This role will involve working alternate Saturday mornings.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Experience in the merchant industry would be preferable.
2. Class 1 experience is required.
3. Proven track record in managing a fleet in a fast-paced environment.
4. Experience of effectively running a successful transport function.
5. Excellent customer service skills.
