Rockbourne is delighted to be retained by a leading Real Estate firm specialising in developing and managing high-quality Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) in helping them appoint a new Analyst/Associate to their team.

My client is a significant player in the US living market and has recently announced their expansion into the European market targeting PBSA in the UK and Ireland.
As a result, they are now looking to expand their investment team and have outlined a number of key additions to the business.

The role itself:
You will be responsible for supporting the Acquisitions, Development and Investment Management teams in growing and executing on their PBSA development pipeline. You will oversee every phase of the acquisition process from initial opportunity analysis and underwriting up until the JV financial close/ construction start. This role requires a highly motivated, problem solver with an owner’s mindset and a “company builder” mentality.
The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following functions:
New UK Development Pipeline
* Produce informed analysis on new development opportunities which are presented.
* Produce financial models for new deals and help keep existing models up to date.
* Present financial underwrites to colleagues and be able to justify the reasoning behind the underwritten assumptions.
Market Research:
* Take ownership over keeping their UK & Ireland city maps up to date including the recording of all new PBSA pipeline sites.
Development Acquisition Analysis & Support
* Liaise with the development team to ensure models have correctly underwritten development costs.
* Take ownership of keeping the UK cost-plan analysis/tracker document; this plays a crucial role in the Development team’s analysis of underwritten hard costs.
Investment Management
* Producing high quality decks and externalised models to be shared with external investors.
* Assist the Investment Management team in liaising with prospective investors including responding to queries and requests for additional information.
* Attend meetings with prospective external investors and assist in tracking potential capital partners.
What do you need to bring to the table?
* 2 – 5 years of Real Estate investment experience.
* Prior residential (specifically PBSA) investment/deal experience is desirable, not essential.
* Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects
* Advanced understanding of underwriting and investment concepts and the ability to apply concepts.
* Advanced financial and analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
