Location: Edinburgh, UK – flexible work environment
Office Presence: Expected to be in the office at least twice a week and with more regular visits required as and when supporter communications are posted out. There may be requirements for occasional travel.

Salary: Starting salary range is 27,280 GBP, commensurate with professional experience

The Team: The Fundraising Development Team supports Mercy Corps’ strategies for restricted funding, unrestricted funds, and brand profile raising. The Fundraising Operations (FundOps) Team manages internal processes to ensure the smooth operation of fundraising activities. They do not fundraise directly but process donor income and reconcile voluntary income with Finance.
The Position: The Fundraising Operations Assistant supports the Fundraising Operations Team by processing gifts, maintaining accurate supporter data, and providing excellent donor care. The role also supports the wider Fundraising Development Team in donor stewardship.
Processing:
* Handle daily gift processing, including cash
* Maintain digital records of gifts and donation forms
* Process website donations and third-party platforms
* Record all gifts on The Raiser’s Edge database
* Record email subscribers’ status and communications on The Raiser’s Edge, ActionKit, and Care2
* Develop standard processes for gifts, acknowledgements, and data imports
Stewardship:
* First point of contact for fundraising telephone line, postal donations, supporter letters, and email communications
* Thank donors for gifts, including personal and special acknowledgements
* Support communications to donor groups, focusing on stewardship and local engagement
* Develop supporter journeys in collaboration with the wider Fundraising Development team
Finance and Reporting:
* Assist with month-end financial reconciliation
* Support Fundraising Operations Officers, Manager, and Director with reporting
Other Responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with UK GDPR and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice
* Represent Mercy Corps professionally and respectfully at all times
Accountability:
* Reports Directly To: Fundraising Operations Manager Europe
* Works Directly With: Fundraising Operations Officers, wider fundraising team members
* Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders
Knowledge and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of administrative/coordination support experience
* Experience with a fundraising or similar CRM database for marketing, engagement, and/or fundraising
* Experience with The Raiser’s Edge is an advantage but not essential
* Experience in donor care or customer service role
* Experience in processing gifts
* Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
