Contracts Specialist
Location: Commutable to one our Farnborough, Whiteley or Bristol offices (1-2 days a week)

Role Overview:
We are looking for a Contracts Specialist for the National Security and Defence area of Leidos Innovations UK. The role holder will assist and report directly to the Head of Contracts / Commercial Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provides commercial, contractual and technical interpretation on contract terms and conditions as the lead for existing contracts with key customers.
* Scrutinise and govern contract change proposals; provide high quality contract drafting and negotiate proposals through to signature.
* Manage and draft customer communications in support of programme delivery.
* Lead the commercial evaluation and preparation of contract change proposals.
* Lead contractual interactions with the Customer.
* Represent the Contracts team at customer meetings, being able to present to the Customer and advise on the status of contractual issues and resolution.
* Own the contract management and contract compliance activities for the programme.
* Proactively manage customer disputes and complaints.
* Provide timely commercial advice to project and delivery teams in support of management and delivery of the programme.
* Review, scrutinize, and develop operational process flows.
* Ensure that the financial aspects and impact of the contract are clear to all parties.
* Ensure that all stakeholders, such as administration, operations, and finance understand and adhere to contractual obligations.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with the customer commercial/contracts team.
* Take an active role in the performance of the contract and proactively work to identify risks, issues and opportunities, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks, resolve issues and capitalize on opportunities.
* Ability to operate independently and communicate effectively, both internally and externally.
* Good level of understanding of programme technical performance metrics and financial status.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Liaison with other Leidos operating units and corporate departments where applicable.
Skills Required:
* Extensive experience of managing commercial and contractual elements of a contract change pipeline, including scope definition, pricing strategy, risk evaluation and allocation, managing queries and disputes in the delivery phase.
* Extensive experience of in-life contract management and contract compliance.
* Strong interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
* Ability to multi-task in a pressurised environment is also essential.
* Provides commercial, contractual and technical interpretation of the contract.
* Strong comprehension of programme technical performance metrics and financial status.
* Strong negotiator.
* Strong collaborator.
* Commercially astute.
* High attention to detail.
Clearance Requirements:
* Clearance to Start SC HO.
* Clearance for Role SC HO.
* UK National due to programme requirements.
