Role: WTG Transport & Installation Engineer
Location: Remote - Scotland
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 Months + Possible Extension
Rates: £600 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella
Clearance: BPSS
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and coordinate T&I engineering work in relation to the WTG foundations on an Offshore windfarm.
2. Develop marine logistics strategy from WTG foundation fabrication locations to marshalling facilities to transport to field for subsequent installation.
3. T&I input into WTG foundation design process.
4. Identification of suitable installation vessels that have the capability to install the structures being proposed.
5. Develop installation strategy and assess contractors proposed methodology for efficiency and suitability.
6. Long haul HTV vessel selection.
Role Overview:
1. Closely interface with the Structures team on the project during the Concept/Detailed Design to ensure that requirements for T&I are introduced and reflected in the foundation design.
2. Lift Point Design.
3. Installation criteria.
4. Grill and SF design.
5. Tooling requirements.
Closely interface with the WTG team on the project to understand the WTG parameters for installation.
1. Hub heights, water depths, leg penetration.
Close interface with the Geotech team for foundation installation and geotechnical requirements supporting information required, risks associated to the geotechnical constraints and associated installation methods.
Maintain ongoing interaction with the T&I supply chain during the design process to understand the contractors methodology for installation is aligning with the design.
Review Contractors methods for transportation and installation.
Responsible for management of risk and risk mitigation related to the T&I technical scope.
At all times act, behave and lead by example according to professional standards of conduct and values.
Tasks:
1. Chair technical meetings both internally and externally with Contractors representing the interests of the Client and project.
2. Prepare and contribute to regular reporting regarding the development of the T&I scope.
3. Monitor and track progress of the T&I Contractor's engineering related to the development and readiness of the installation vessel(s) to handle and install the project specific foundations.
Authority:
Authority to manage the T&I engineering's delivery of engineering scope and interface with the foundation designer.
Role Requirements:
1. Eligibility to work in the UK.
2. Strong ability to work autonomously and independently, using initiative to lead T&I engineering decisions and solutions while keeping the T&I manager appraised and involved as needed.
3. Ability to work within a team of T&I engineers, in a collaborative and effective manner.
4. Experience of contractual interface management, contractor management and conflict/dispute resolution.
5. Effective Communication.
6. Min 10 years work experience within a similar industry and role.
7. Educated to degree level in relevant technical discipline.
8. Experience working for a developer or offshore installation contractor.
9. Experience with WTG foundation loadouts, transportation and installation.
10. GWO suite of training certifications including First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Working at Heights and Sea Survival (with HUET).
11. COVID-19 Passport.
12. Offshore Medical including Chester Step Test.
13. CDM and Maritime regulations experience.
14. Offshore Lifting and LOLER experience.
15. IT proficient.
