About the Job: We are seeking a Personal Assistant to support and look after a 10-year-old young person, who has autistic spectrum disorder and has no verbal communication, you will be required to take an active part in play activities. He likes to dance and listen to music, visits to play parks, to run and laugh, and eat biscuits He has recently become prone to seizures, and requires constant supervision to keep him safe, so experience of supporting someone with these needs is essential. The young person wears incontinence products and may need continence care assistance when out and about. Applicants will be required to transport him to activities, so it is essential that you are a driver/car owner, with appropriate business insurance. This role is for 4 hours per week, hours are negotiable, but flexibility will be required. More hours may be available during school holidays. Responsible to: You will be directly responsible to your employer, the young person's mother. Tasks and duties, to include all or any of the following: This position requires a full driving licence. To transport and accompany the young person on trips out and about, to open spaces and play parks where he can run. He likes to take an active part in play activities, so enthusiasm and creativity are required, to ensure he is stimulated by the activities. Experience of working with children with disabilities is essential for this role. To provide constant supervision, ensuring he is always safe. Assist with continence care and products if required, when out and about, to be conducted with the utmost regard to the young person's dignity. Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed. Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed. Person Specification: You will be required to transport the young person to his activities, so access to a car with appropriate business insurance cover and full clean driving licence is essential. Experience of supporting children and/or young people who have ASD is essential. Be trustworthy and kind, with a commitment to supporting young people with an aim of empowerment for the young person. To be punctual, flexible, and reliable. Establish a professional standard of care, which should be maintained at all times while following a high level of health and safety practice. Respect and safeguard the goods and property and privacy of the family, upholding confidentiality always. You must be a driver with a full UK driving licence and have use of a car. Class 1 business use must be included in your policy document. A mileage allowance will be paid to meet accrued cost for fuel, whilst carrying out the duties of this role.
