On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for an Operations Director who, will take control of the Landscaping & Groundwork side of the business and report directly to the Managing Director. The reason for this appointment is due to a number of successful framework agreements being won.
Main Purpose
Accountable to the Managing Director, this role will lead the operational function for the group of businesses. The priority will be to manage the operational process of projects on time, within cost and to the highest quality with no health and safety issues, resulting in high customer satisfaction.
The Operations Director is the main point of contact for our clients customers on their projects from the point that an order is placed, pro-actively managing customers queries and any issues that may arise pre-start, during and post installation.
The Operations Director will also ensure that all health and safety documentation is kept up to date and completed by the appropriate lead on site, ensuring the business remains compliant and most importantly keeping themselves and team members safe.
Key Accountabilities
The Operations Director, as part of the management team, is responsible for ensuring the success of the business.
* Responsible for the P&L of the group along with the Commercial Manager
* Ensuring applications for payment are sent and managed in a timely fashion.
* Build strong partnerships with key people and turn them into customers
* Encourage existing customers to work with the group
* Support the sales team with the estimating and buildability
* Ensure best value with the supply chain
* Oversee the installation of the group:
* Manage the recruitment and day-to-day operational duties of the operations team
* Developing a relationship with sub-contractors to ensure you have the resources required to grow your project portfolio
* Carrying out site surveys and pre-start site meetings to ensure that you can start on site with all the tools and equipment ready from day 1 of the project
* Ensuring the site team have been properly inducted for each project and safety talks carried out before any works are undertaken
* Ensure all projects are completed on time and to budget, resulting in satisfied customers
* Ensure the performance management framework is followed for internal colleagues
* Oversee the installation of groundworks, hard and soft landscaping, and any other works as required by the business or customers
* Perform additional duties across the group as assigned by your line manager.
Key Experience & Qualifications Required
* A valid clean driver’s license is required
* Strong financial management skills
* Extensive knowledge of civils, groundworks, landscaping, playground equipment and installation requirements
* Experience with installing MUGA’s and ramps
* Experience of installation of safety surfacing, preferred but not essential (grass mats, rubber mulch, loose fill and wetpour)
* A CSCS card is essential.
* SMSTS qualification is essential.
* Ability to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions.
* Ability to organise, multi-‐task, plan and set priorities with minimal supervision
* Ability to work independently and in team settings
* Ability to exercise good judgement with a strong attention to detail
* Ability to help with production and scheduling
* Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels
