The role
As a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll provide advice and undertake health and safety audits and inspections to identify non-compliance and feedback to line managers, gain agreement to a programme of improvements to ensure and maintain strong Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide HSE advice and guidance to line management on working practices and arrangements to ensure that work activities are undertaken safely and in compliance with company arrangements and applicable legislation.
1. Provide advice on the development of safe systems of work and risk assessments to ensure that they identify and take account of all relevant hazards and consider how risks could be reduced.
2. Write and circulate health and safety reports that summarise areas of non-compliance, discuss with local management and identify areas requiring improvement.
3. Maintain up to date documentary evidence of inspections, audits and audit finding such that these can be filed and retrieved at any time.
4. Supporting the Safety, Security, Health, Environment, Quality and Radiation (SSHEQR) Director in ensuring that any new legislation, or revised business instructions are integrated into health & safety procedures.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is adaptable and can be delivered from various locations including Warrington, Cheshire, Whitehaven, Cumbria or Preston, Lancashire and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor
5. We are open to applications from all experience levels and are able to support and develop new to discipline candidates if needs be, although relevant HSE qualifications are required (see below).
6. Ability to investigate events using industry best-practice causal analysis tools.
7. Good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety regulations and legislation.
Qualifications for the Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor
8. Level 3 accredited Health and Safety Qualification or equivalent. Examples include BSC Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health, or National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Level 3 Health and Safety at Work, or NEBOSH General Certificate
