We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join our team within our home counties pumping Wastewater Division to be based at our Maple Lodge STW.
As one of the successful candidates, you will be working in multi-discipline teams and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdown.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician:
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
* Provide technical advice and training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment including motors, pumps, control gear, electronic control systems, and chemical handling equipment.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
What you should bring to the role:
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical engineering qualification.
* A valid driving license is essential.
* Physically fit as you will work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
* Ideally, be a time-served apprentice with considerable experience of electrical systems.
* Participation in a 24/7 out of hours’ standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment.
