Main duties of the job Duties and responsibilities include: Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols. Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional. Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail. Taking messages and passing on information. Handling general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures. Dealing with actions requested by the GPs/Nurses from incoming post/results. Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures. Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers. Keeping the reception area, noticeboards, and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter. Providing cover for members of the Reception/Administrative Team during periods of sickness and annual leave. Assisting Reception Supervisor in routine clerical/administrative duties. Attending Meetings/training as necessary. Handling and recording payment for private services. About us We are a practice based in Shrewsbury Shropshire. The practice has a list size of approximately 10,900 patients. We are a training practice with 6 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GP, 2 Practice Nurses, 4 HCA's, 1 ACP & 1 PA. We are a part of the Shrewsbury Primary Care Network and work in partnership with 11 other Shrewsbury practices. The non clinical team consists of a Practice Manager, an Assistant Manager, a Reception Supervisor, Secretarial Manager, Receptionists, Data Administrators & Secretaries.
