Job summary The postholder will act as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist within the Children's Speech and Language team. Using specialist knowledge and experience the post holder will be responsible for assessing, treating and managing their own caseload of patients/clients in a variety of settings providing an accurate clinical diagnosis and implementation of a specialist treatment plan whilst maintaining associated records To advise, provide clinical support to other therapist/staff on SLT issues. Main duties of the job -Work with a paediatric caseload to assess and review level of need and to organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and time management principles. Thiswill be in a variety of environments within the community e.g. community clinics, special schools etc. This may involve direct therapy or the provision of programs to be undertaken byothers. -Have in-depth knowledge, understanding and management of wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties to have the necessary skills for the management of a range of speech, language and communication (SLC) difficulties. Be responsible for assessment and diagnosis of newly acquired speech, language and swallowing problems in community settings as appropriate. -Effectively communicate sensitive information in an understandable format to children and young people and other professionals in a supportive manner to ensure quality of patient care.
