Overview
Following a period of sustained growth and success, and a whole host of award wins, we are looking to expand our actuarial consulting and analyst teams in our London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Ipswich offices. If you have a handful of actuarial qualifications and experience of working in the UK Defined Benefit/Final Salary Pension world, we can offer you a supportive, collaborative culture, genuine career progression, and varied work with diverse clients. We will fully support you in obtaining a fully-qualified Actuary status (although that's not a necessity if further exams are not of interest). We can provide guidance and tools towards obtaining a Scheme Actuary certificate and holding responsibility for a portfolio of clients as a client manager. We are open to flexible working and part-time requests.
How you'll make an impact
To summarise the role, you will be working within an established team of qualified and part-qualified actuaries, acting as an actuarial and consulting assistant for a portfolio of clients. This will include:
1. Handling the preparation of valuations and cost estimates
2. Undertaking and supervising accounting disclosures (FRS17, IAS19 and USGAAP)
3. Coordinating data collection, including editing and testing data received from clients
4. Undertaking and checking all aspects of actuarial work associated with pension schemes
5. Preparing letters, reports and other client materials
6. Checking day-to-day individual calculations as requested
7. Participating in internal projects, handling special projects or assignments as needed
8. Assisting scheme consultants with consultancy aspects of pension schemes, including attending client/trustee meetings as required
9. Providing leadership, feedback, and training to actuarial analysts
About You
Good numerical/mathematics based degree, good progress through the actuarial exams (generally completed CT exams and CA1), and substantial experience within the pensions actuarial environment.
