Worcestershire County Council (WCC) delivers an array of services supporting our residents, employing over 2,000 members of staff across many different services and jobs.
The Finance Operational Services (FOS) Team is part of the Council’s overall Finance Team. We support Worcestershire’s residents from their early years into later life and everything in between, playing a vital role in sourcing and funding services, making payments to both individuals and businesses including schools to cover services provided, managing contributions towards care, insurance claims, early years payments, and income and debt services. We are a fast-paced, dynamic, and enthusiastic team with a passion for the service we provide to our residents. We pride ourselves on the development and progression of our staff.
We have a rare opportunity for an Insurance Officer to join us in our internal Insurance Service. If you are successful, you will help provide the Insurance Service for Worcestershire County Council and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS).
As someone with a passion for excellent attention to detail and a constant need to learn more, you will support the Insurance Manager to deliver the insurance programme while successfully managing your own caseload of cases.
Key duties for this role include:
1. Supporting the provision of in-house insurance, providing claims guidance and support to the business.
2. Managing a caseload of insurance claims in conjunction with the Council’s insurance providers and being responsible for the recording, processing, and internal investigation of all insurance claims made against the Council, liaising with the Council’s insurers as appropriate.
3. Managing a caseload of insurance claims not handled by insurance providers including Public Liability, Motor, and Property claims.
4. Maintaining a computerised claims management system and processing all third-party insurance claim correspondence, including direct contact from claimants, insurers, solicitors, and loss adjusters.
5. Liaising with colleagues at all levels within the Council in relation to claims investigation and handling process, including dealing with members of the public in writing, by email, or over the telephone.
6. Being responsible for the payment of claims within the Council’s policy excesses and the associated claims-related invoices.
7. Assisting in the provision of evidence of insurance cover as required.
We would like to hear from you if you have the drive and passion to be part of our excellent Insurance Service.
In return, you can look forward to:
1. 26 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays.
2. 35-hour working week, with flexible working between County Hall campus and working remotely.
3. Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
