As an Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting fundamental investment research, assisting in building recommendations, implementing investments strategies, and monitoring and managing portfolio investments. You may also support the identification, scoping, and implementation of value creation opportunities by conducting research, analysis, and preparing presentations.
Team Description
Real Assets Credit invests in both public and private markets across all parts of the capital structure with a focus on complex transactions requiring highly customized solutions with target positions of $100 million to $500 million and flexible hold periods with maturities generally less than 15 years. Based in London, the infrastructure credit team invests in both developed and emerging markets across transportation, regulated networks, digital infrastructure, and power and renewables.
Accountabilities
* Compile industry, market and asset level data and financial information to support research.
* Perform fundamental research and present research ideas to broader group.
* Develop company financial models and perform valuation analyses (reviewing debt structures, relevant debt underwriting parameters); apply statistical analysis to test assumptions and sensitivities in support of investment decisions.
* Prepare analytical investment reviews and recommendations in collaboration with the team, including industry overviews, assessing past and projected investment performance; sponsor evaluation; investment merits and risks, expected returns and relative value analysis, structuring and legal documentation review, written investment rationales and due diligence reviews.
* Assist Investment and internal partners in the preparation of ongoing and ad-hoc investment performance reporting.
* Monitor ongoing financial and risk performance of portfolio assets.
* Update financial models and other analytical tools to support the idea generation process and rationale behind changes in investment view.
* Support transition of new assets into CPPIB portfolio by identifying benchmarks, building financial models and providing rigorous project management support.
Minimum Requirements
* An advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset.
* Relevant work experience commensurate to an Analyst level role.
* Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively.
* Advanced computer/technical skills – MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
* Solid verbal and written communication skills.
* Willingness to travel and work with colleagues in international offices and different time zones.
