Student Lamber/Farm Hand Job - Shetland Isles
Lambing Shepherd wanted: Opportunity to travel North (Travel provided or reimbursed) to the Shetland Islands and take part in lambing 480 ewes in the hills of the mainland isle.
All housed inside, in a state-of-the-art sheep shed, and then released out into the surrounding arable/hill land once strong. Ewes breeds include Texel cross, Aberfeld cross, and Shetland/Lleyn cross. The bulk of ewes run to Suffolk and Texel ram, and the rest are run to Aberfeld, Lleyn, and Shetland.
Interested candidates would be expected to work either day or night shifts. Our preferred candidate would be someone looking for an adventure and an attitude to come and learn, but experienced farm hands can also apply and will be considered. The Head Farmer is fully qualified from Aberdeen College, with an HND in agriculture, and over 30 years of experience, willing to pass knowledge on.
Dates: 20th of April for 4 weeks. Ideal for someone looking to finish off their season.
Full accommodation will be provided in a modern new farmhouse, with a private ensuite room. All meals will be included with an open fridge policy. A clean driving license, criminal record check, and being drug-free are an absolute must. Note: The house and shed have super-fast broadband, ensuring communications with home at all times.
