To provide an efficient administrative and clerical support service in line with service requirements.
As an important link between clinical staff, patients and GPs, the post holder will be expected to project a positive and helpful image at all times.
Excellent communication skills are essential for this role, as the post holder is very much front of house and will be the first line of contact for our colleagues and visitors.
Main duties of the job
1. To attend any training courses which would benefit both the Department and your own knowledge and development.
2. To carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Trust’s policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, and the Departmental procedures.
3. Responsible for maintaining stationary stock and advising supervisor of requirements and ordering items on PECOS.
4. Liaise with other hospital departments i.e. Medical Records, Estates & Facilities.
5. Liaise with Nursing/Care Home and Residential home.
6. When required to act as first point of contact for visitors to the department.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Communicate effectively and with a friendly manner with all staff groups and families.
2. To pass on any messages given in role to the appropriate person as soon as possible.
3. Adherence to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities policy in the workplace.
4. Respond to requests for information and, where appropriate, pass on information to others, maintaining confidentiality.
5. To provide administrative cover to the ward and ensuring that this is delivered to high standards.
6. To ensure the timely administration of admissions and discharge summaries and GP notification on discharge ensuring that all data is recorded on the discharge database.

Experience and skills
* Experience in working with the NHS organisation.
* Key skills in numeracy and literacy.
* Understanding of the role of a ward clerk.
* Ability to file in alphabetical and numerical order.
