GMP Manufacturing Limited, based in Hull, is an established company holding a Manufacturing License and Medical Devices Certification. We produce a range of medicinal products and medical devices across various categories. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Hull site. A proactive and hands-on approach is essential for this role. You will report to the Engineering Manager.
Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous Electrical Engineer to oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems within our manufacturing facility. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that all electrical equipment operates efficiently and safely, supporting production processes while adhering to regulatory standards. You will also play a key role in installing new machinery, managing power supply systems, and handling site-wide electrical upgrades, including running cables and other related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform regular maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical systems, ensuring all equipment functions optimally.
* Respond promptly to electrical issues on the production floor to minimise downtime.
* Troubleshoot complex electrical problems, including automation systems, PLCs, motors, sensors, and control panels.
* Oversee the installation of new machinery, ensuring the correct power supplies and electrical connections.
* Manage site upgrades, including installing electrical systems for new machinery, running cables, and setting up electrical infrastructure.
* Collaborate with contractors and vendors for large-scale electrical works and installations.
* Ensure all electrical systems comply with GMP standards and regulatory requirements, including safety codes and industry regulations.
* Carry out electrical inspections and safety audits, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
* Document maintenance activities, upgrades, and inspections in line with regulatory standards.
* Plan and execute electrical upgrades for the site, including new power distribution systems, panel installations, and cable management.
* Work closely with other engineers and departments to ensure the seamless integration of new equipment and infrastructure.
* Identify opportunities to improve electrical systems for greater efficiency and safety.
* Contribute to projects aimed at modernising the facility’s electrical infrastructure.
Essential Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
* Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer in a manufacturing or GMP-regulated environment.
* In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems.
* Experience with the installation of new machinery, power supplies, and electrical upgrades.
* Proficiency in troubleshooting automation systems, PLCs, and electrical components.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
* Strong understanding of GMP regulations, electrical safety standards, and compliance requirements.
* Excellent project management skills, with the ability to coordinate large-scale electrical installations and upgrades.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional shifts and weekends as required.
Desirable
* Certification in PLC programming or electrical safety systems.
* Experience working on major facility upgrades or expansions.
* Strong background in electrical design and installation.
