Ecological Clerk of Works We have opportunities nationwide for Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoWs) to join our UK Ecology Team. Delivering some of the most challenging, diverse and innovative infrastructure projects - presently, we are engaged on a variety of large projects including water infrastructure, highway and rail schemes, and energy infrastructure for clients such as Anglian Water, National Highways, National Grid, Network Rail, Thames Water, The Environment Agency, Transport Scotland and a number of local authorities. Working in multidisciplinary teams - quickly building rapport and trust to ensure that terrestrial ecology requirements are recognised, acknowledged and constraints acted upon. Engagement with clients - both internal and external clients, customers and environmental regulators. Attending site meetings and understanding the works programme. Enthusiastically leading from the front - being the first point of contact in the provision of expert advice to both clients and stakeholders.Taking on responsibility for monitoring and managing construction risks associated with ecology, providing input for improvement of environmental policies as well as advising on mitigation to minimise risks and delays. Being site based - delivery of toolbox talks and onsite guidance to contractors; attendance and ability to present information at meetings; carry out checks for protected and notable species; compilation of site reports, supporting office management and administrative tasks. Work across the UK - with potential to stay away from home during the working week; operate in a variety of environments such as operational construction sites and remotes areas. A background in terrestrial ecology with previous experience acting as an Ecological Clerk of Works. Working knowledge of relevant UK legislation, planning policy and, best practice guidance. Having a good understanding of wildlife and environmental legislation and being able to communicate this clearly to colleagues, clients and contractors. Eligibility for CIEEM membership. Ability to write clear and concise reports.
