Are you a dietitian with an interest in enteral nutrition and nutritional support? We have an exciting opportunity for a 1.0 WTE band 6 Dietitian to enhance their skills and knowledge in our Band 6 rotational position. The rotations currently include a number of clinical areas including Stroke, Head & Neck, Health Care for the older person, and Critical Care. It is possible that the clinical areas of the rotations may expand further in the future.

Main duties of the job
The role will support delivery of care to patients across different inpatient settings, including critical care. The successful candidate will support complex nutritional interventions as well as nutrition support and enteral feeding, so some experience in these would be beneficial. We actively encourage service improvement and audit, and the successful candidate would have the opportunity to be involved in development work to improve nutritional care of our patients.
You'll need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to manage your own time and workload and that of other members of staff within a supportive team. Experience of nutritional support and evidence of a varied clinical experience is desirable.

The Dietetic service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH.
Job responsibilities
You should have experience of working as a dietitian, have excellent communication skills, self-motivation, a flexible approach, and the ability to manage your own time and workload within a supportive team. Nutritional support skills are essential, and additional training and support will be provided.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified Dietitian (4-year degree, post-graduate diploma or equivalent).
* HCPC registered.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Relevant validated course.
* Member of BDA including specialist group.
Experience
* Experience as a dietitian in nutritional support.
* Able to apply additional depth of knowledge gained through experience to specialist area.
* Experience of working in relevant specialist area/s.
Analytical and judgement
* Able to interpret complex information to make decisions.
Communication
* Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating, and training.
* Able to work as an integral member of dietetic and multi-professional teams, building relationships with patients/carers, and other staff.
* Able to handle sensitive and confidential information and respond to people who are distressed or anxious.
* Able to overcome difficulties in communication, including language barriers, and adapt approach to varying situations.
Planning and organisation skills
* Able to plan and organise own workload, including daily tasks and longer-term strategic planning, despite interruptions and changing priorities.
* Able to plan and organise the work of allocated student dietitians.
Physical skills
* Able to carry out anthropometric measurements accurately and use relevant equipment.
* Able to use a computer keyboard and relevant computer programmes.
