The Accounts Assistant Job Role:
The Finance Assistant is a newly created role due to an internal promotion and will interest an Accounts Assistant seeking a varied and challenging role within a stable and ambitious company. The Finance Assistant (Accounts Assistant) will work in a friendly team and support the Group Financial Accounts Manager, taking responsibility for the reconciliation of all group bank accounts, credit card accounts, petty cash, and general expenses. Additional responsibilities include the provision of cashflow information and more.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Posting daily banking entries and ensuring all banking discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
2. Working closely with management to provide cashflow information.
3. Responsible for all bank, credit card, and petty cash expense reconciliations.
4. Preparing journals for banking, credit cards, petty cash, financing, and general expenses.
5. Ensuring payments and expenses are posted correctly with reference to VAT.
6. Improving processes to enhance efficiencies.
7. Updating bank mandates.
8. Supporting others within the team.
9. Assisting within the finance team with purchase ledger and general accountancy duties, month end, etc.
10. Ad hoc project work.
The Ideal Finance / Accounts Assistant:
1. Experience in preparing bank reconciliations.
2. General bookkeeping experience/knowledge.
3. Some experience in VAT.
4. Strong communication skills.
5. Able to work to deadlines.
6. Ambitious and keen to develop career.
7. Strong Excel skills and a good eye for detail.
8. Ideally keen to continue with AAT or ACCA/CIMA studies.
